Bye Bye Baby

Today we bid a sad farewell to our loyal friend and faithful companion Baby the Bulldog also known as Princess Miso Itchy Bum, Boogah, and many other aliases. Baby was born with a cleft palate and little hope for survival, but stubbornly defied the odds and lived to the ripe old age of 14 (that's 82 in human years). This week she was diagnosed with Addison's disease. Today Greg and I made the difficult decision to forgo an invasive treatment and usher her out of this life with as little pain as possible.

By now St. Francis has long since welcomed her through the gates of dog heaven, where she was reunited with her brother Bubba. After frolicking with him in green pastures she is luxuriating on a huge mound of dirty laundry. A host of house cat servants attend her every desire. They fan her and hand feed her pizza crusts and popcorn. Others rub her belly and scratch that place on her rump that she was never able to reach. When she farts no one pinches their nose or says 'Pee-yew!'  By and by she will fall asleep with a big doggy smile on her face. Her signature snaggle tooth has magically been restored gleaming in the perpetual mid-day sun. Her snoring rumbles through the air as she dreams of the family she lived with on earth, and who still love her so.
